We are very concerned about the problems bots and spam cause for our users. I think we can all agree that its a problem that no one likes. No one wants posts on their site for WOW gold or porn. Yet we all have to deal with it at some point.
With that in mind we have implemented a few things to help stop that. First we have changed the user profiles to no longer allow anything but a root url. So http://www.mysite.com is valid. But http://www.mysite.com/index.php?ref=12323416 isn’t.
We also are no longer allowing any urls in location, occupation, and interests. Spammers were using those areas to increase the links to their sites.
Finally we have added 5 simple random math questions to the registration screen. Don’t worry they only have to answer 1 of those five, which one is also picked at random. This will hopefully slow down the bots a bit.
Obviously none of these is going to stop spam completely. But we are trying our best to help.

We have moved the SVN and the project information over to Assembla. Check it out
The project is now on ohloh, check it out!
My last post here stated we would have a podcast and video posted soon, then it never happen. Well that was due to the fact no one asked any questions. Also I had a number of other things come up. So I put it on hold.
I will probably work on a new video next month….hopefully.
Podcasts will probably be on hold for awhile. I might restart them once the project is more mature or there is more interest.

We have upgraded the blog to WordPress 2.7
With the start of a new year we are upgrading our W3C coding compliance from ‘XHTML 1.0 Transitional’ to ‘XHTML 1.0 Strict’ as this will result in us providing you with the best quality CMS.
Although this will discontinue the use of certain tags (which alot of html/nuke coder’s are used to)within the coding of the project, there are compliant tags and new ways of coding which will replace the depreciated method’s.

I am going to try my best to get at very least another podcast completed next week. So as always if you have questions on phpBB-Evolution, project, me, nuke-evolution, what ever feel free to send them to me and I will try to answer them on the podcast.
My hope is to put together another video next week as well this time on categories.

In just under the wire. Content is now complete. I see a few things that I will probably adjust in Alpha 2 but for right now it is function in an intended way.
So now it’s on to the next goal!
